By using PracticeLedger, you agree to these terms.
THE APP
PracticeLedger helps musicians log practice and strength-training sessions, and helps teachers and students connect, share assignments, and exchange feedback including media submissions.
ACCOUNTS
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Teacher Features (teacher/student linking, assignments, and media submissions) requires an auto-renewing subscription of $25/month, billed through your Apple ID, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Core practice logging, history, and analytics are free and do not require a subscription.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings after purchase.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Teacher-to-student payments for lessons or services outside of Teacher Features (for example, a teacher's own lesson fees) are handled directly between the teacher and student outside the app, and are not processed or guaranteed by PracticeLedger.
ACCEPTABLE USE
You agree not to use the app to upload unlawful, abusive, or infringing content, or to use teacher/student messaging or media submissions for any purpose unrelated to music instruction.
CONTENT YOU SUBMIT
You retain ownership of any practice logs, messages, or media you submit. By submitting media to a connected teacher or student, you grant them permission to view and respond to that content for instructional purposes. We don't claim ownership of your content and don't use it for any purpose beyond providing the app's features.
DISCLAIMER
The app is provided “as is.” We make reasonable efforts to keep it reliable but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. PracticeLedger is not a substitute for professional medical advice regarding strength training or exercise; consult a professional as appropriate.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Robert Hjelmstad is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app.
CHANGES
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

PracticeLedger (“the app”) is made by Robert Hjelmstad. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's handled.
INFORMATION THE APP COLLECTS
Account information. If you create an account (to link with a teacher or student, or to subscribe), the app stores your email address and an encrypted password via our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see or store your plaintext password.
Practice and workout data. Session logs, metrics, and strength-training entries you create are stored on your device and, if signed in, synced to your account so they're available across your devices via iCloud (Apple's CloudKit).
Teacher/student connections and messages. If you link with a teacher or student, the app stores that connection, any assignments, and any messages you exchange, including media submissions (video, audio, photos, or PDFs you or they choose to upload) tied to that connection.
Media you submit. Video, audio, photo, or PDF files you attach to a message are uploaded to secure cloud storage and are only accessible to you and the teacher/student you're connected with.
Camera, microphone, and photo library access. The app requests these permissions only when you choose to record or attach media for a submission. Nothing is recorded or accessed without your explicit action.
Subscription information. If you subscribe to Teacher Features, Apple's App Store processes the payment. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, not your payment card details, which the app never sees.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't show ads or use third-party ad-tracking networks.
- We don't access your camera, microphone, or photo library unless you take an action that requires it.
HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS USED
- To provide the app's core features: logging, syncing across your devices, teacher/student messaging, and media submissions.
- To maintain your account and subscription status.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
WHERE YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED
- Practice/workout logs sync via Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID.
- Account, connections, assignments, and media submissions are stored with Supabase, our backend provider, using industry-standard encryption in transit and access controls that restrict each connection's data to its own participants.
YOUR CHOICES
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This permanently removes your profile, connections, assignments, and media submissions from our servers.
- You can revoke camera, microphone, or photo library access anytime in your device's Settings app.
- You can export your practice data from Settings at any time.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
PracticeLedger is designed to be used by music students of any age, but every account is created and controlled by an adult — the student's teacher or parent/guardian — not by the app directly soliciting sign-ups from children.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without a parent or teacher creating and managing the account on their behalf.
- The adult who creates a student's account is responsible for the information entered for that account and for supervising the student's use of teacher/student messaging and media submissions.
- A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent may contact rhjelmstad@gmail.com to request its review or deletion; we will delete such information promptly upon verified request.
- Teacher/student connections are 1:1 and permission-based (a connection code shared by the teacher), not open or discoverable — a student cannot be contacted by anyone other than the teacher they've been explicitly linked with.
- We do not use children's information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering the core teacher/student features described in this policy.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

COMMON QUESTIONS
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, not inside the app. On your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → PracticeLedger → Cancel Subscription.
How do I link with a teacher or student?
From the Messages tab, use the connection code your teacher or student shares with you to link your accounts.
Is my practice data backed up?
Yes — if you're signed in with iCloud, your session logs sync automatically across your devices.
